There may be more paperwork to fill out if you are adopting within the United States, but often this paperwork is easier to fill out than the few that you will have to fill out if you are adopting children from another country. Also, you won't have to travel somewhere else to get your children, and you won't have to stay in another country for any amount of time if you adopt a child from your own country.

However, if you adopt a child in your own country, the chances of having an open adoption are going to be much higher. You might have to make sacrifices and allow the birth parents to have a role in their child's life, even after you have fully adopted their child when you adopt in your home country.

There are many factors that you should consider before you decide whether you want to adopt in your own country or in another country. No matter what you decide though it is important to remember that you will be welcoming a person into your family forever, and that is, in the end, what really matters.
