What Happens When An Adoption Goes
Wrong?
There are many things that you might be
concerned about when it comes to adopting a child. There are many
things that could go wrong.
Probably the
first thing that might go wrong with many adoptions is that you
haven't filled in the forms that are necessary and completed the
paper work. This is something that most people find very time
consuming and annoying, and sometimes it is something that simply
doesn't get done correctly. If you haven't finished these things
correctly, you are going to run into problems when you begin the
adoption process. Therefore, you should try your best to make sure
that you have filled out all of the forms that need to be filled
out and that you are careful to do everything you are supposed to
do.
Another thing that could easily go wrong when it
comes to adoption is the idea that at the last moment, the birth
mother could changer her mind. If you haven't signed the forms, or
if you haven't completed the waiting periods, it is always a
realistic fear that the birth mother is going to change her mind
and that she will want to keep the baby for herself, or go with
another person to adopt her child. If this happens to you, there is
nothing you can do about it. It is just a part of the adopting
process, and if a mother does change her mind you shouldn't let
that keep you from trying again. When this happens to a couple or
parent trying to adopt, you are put back into the potential
adoptive parent pool.
Unfortunately, you may return to the bottom of
the list, giving others a chance to adopt before you. However, in
some agencies, you are then given first priority when a new baby
becomes available.
It might be that you are put very low down on a
waiting list and feel that you have to wait forever. This is
something that might happen because often adopting agencies try to
match children to the homes that best fit them. If you are
concerned that your wait is going to be too long, you should
consider adopting in a different country. This might give you a
better chance of getting a baby and a child sooner. It is also a
good idea because there are often a lot of children who need homes
in other countries, and if you are willing to do this, you are
going to be able to give a good home to different children.
Remember that this too might take time; it just might take less
than adopting from your own country.
